The Summer Smarts course in Language Arts for students in grade 6-8 will provide an individualized study plan in the subject based on students’ current level of knowledge and skills. Based on initial tests at the beginning of the course students will be prescribed lessons that will provide foundational, maintenance or acceleration in various concepts including expanding vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension. All lessons are aligned to the Common Core standards for Language Arts in grades 6 - 8. A teacher will monitor each students’ progress through the course and provide LiveLessons as well as daily tutoring hours to provide one-on-one assistance. When a student is ready for acceleration the teacher will move them into levels of higher skill based lessons. If a student needs more time and practice on specific skills, they will be provided additional lessons and encouraged to attend the live tutoring sessions. Tutoring sessions shall be held at various times during regular school hours to accommodate differing schedules.
